Gosaikunda is a lake of the alpine freshwater of the Oligotrophic Alps, located at the altitude of 4,380 m (14,370 ft) in the Rasuwa district, and covers an area of 13,8 hectares, Gosainkunda and Gosainkunda (34 acres). The complex Gosaikunda encompasses 1,030 hectares (4.0 sq mi) and is related to the adjacent lakes. On 29 September 2007, it was designated a Ramsar site. In the winter of October to June the lake shines into the river of Trishuli. It stays frozen for six months. In the surrounding area are 108 lakes. On the fringes is the Laurebina La Pass, at an altitude of 4.610 m. Religious belief about Gosaikunda temple It is a sacred location, the Gosaikunda area. Hindu mythology credits Gosaikunda to Shiva and Gauri as the residence of the Hindu deities. BhagavataPurana, Vishnu Purana, the Hindu writings, Ramayana, Mahabharata and other epics refer to the Manthansamudra closely tied to Gosaikunda's origin.
