Top 9 Famous Places of Nepal You Must Visit in 2021

Nepal is a lovely country and one that is so unbelievable. I’ll try not to waffle too much or to sound too cheesy, but Nepal is a truly stunning and totally diverse country. I mean, I only thought that the Himalayas and Kathmandu would be the best spots for visiting Nepal before my visit. Yeah, both are awesome but in Nepal, over and above its mountains and capital, there are really many more amazing places to visit.

1) Kathmandu:

On every trip to Nepal, Colorful Kathmandu is a must-see. Despite the massive damage caused by the earthquake in 2015, the capital is a highly popular tourist destination. There are many sights in the city, including the Swayambhunath Buddhist temple, the remains of Hanuman Dhoka, and the Golden Temple, a Buddhist monastery. The chaotic town is sometimes full of smells, sonorities, and people, with rickshaws and traffic slowing on the streets all around. Kathmandu is an enjoyable place for a few wonderful days.

2) Nuwakot:

An idyllic and relaxing getaway, but it was severely damaged during the recent earthquake, the small town that formerly was the capital of Nepal. Historic temples and monuments have been damaged – and many houses, such as the GaradGhar, have collapsed beyond repair. However, the city is recovering and many sights can still be seen and panoramic views from the new Kalika temple or Malika hilltop are still to be seen. 3) Lumbini:

Lumbini is the town of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, in 563 BC and one of the country’s most important archeological finds, since it is home to Siddhartha Gautama’s birthplace. The peaceful Lumbini monasteries can be visited in the wooded park or relax in the gardens. Interestingly, Lumbini is mainly Muslim, but for Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world, the city is also important. A newly designed religious park is an advanced work that aims to revitalize the city that is often forgotten. You might spend several hours exploring Lumbini’s small area or have days in the calm vibes of the city.

4) Pokhara:

Pokhara was one of the few cities to which the 2015 earthquake virtually untouched. On the bank of a peaceful Lake Phewa, the city has beautiful nature, such as the snow-capped massifs of Annapurna and the surrounding mountains. The city is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Pokhara is known as a popular place for adventure sports such as paragliding and other fun activities such as boating on the quiet lake.

5) Bhaktapur:

In the earthquake of 2015, Bhaktapur was tragically devastated, historically referred to as the most well-preserved city-state in the Kathmandu Valley. Many traditional buildings have been totally destroyed or damaged after reparation. While the streets in some areas remain damaged and rubble-covered, many of the historical and religious monuments of the city still overlook the 3 busy squares. This town is more pedestrian-friendly than Kathmandu or Patan, and some craftsmen weave clothes and lay pots to dry in the sun.

6) Chitwan:

One of the most visited sites in Nepal, Chitwan National Park, is in Chitwan. It is quite easy to visit and cheap and was not damaged during the earthquake. The park is surrounded by 932 square Kilometers with forests, ponds, grasslands, and wildlife such as rhinos and singes. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most beautiful wildlife parks of Nepal. Check out some of the 544 birds and the rare animals, such as leopards, wild elephants, sloth bears, and all the rare creatures: Bengal tiger. Only about 120 adult tigers were present in the park in 2013. If you want to avoid tourist crowds, try Ghatgain and Meghauli, but you may stay in one of the luxury lodges in the village of Sauraha.

7) Panauti:

Panauti is uniquely resistant to earthquake damages and is located in the latter valley off the Arniko Highway on the sacred confluence of the rivers RoshiKhola and PungamatiKhola and a third “invisible river.” During the day, visitors mainly come to Panauti, so early or late in the day, it’s the best time to discover the city. The town has ancient and decorated temples and restored mansions of the Rana Age.

8) Janakpur:

Janakpur is the birthplace of Sita and her marriage place to Ram (Vishnu in mortal form). JanakiMandir, the city center temple, is a sure stop on every Hindu pilgrimage tour, although few tourists visit the area. The site of Nepal’s single train and track is one of the only other attractions in the city. The small holy city is located very close to the Indian border and has a powerful Indian influence.

9) llam:

The tea district of Nepal, Ilam, was built in 1864, due to its perfect tea growing conditions — most of the year, cool and damp air. The tea garden overlooks the ridge above the town and descends along the steep mountainside. Watch the recipients work from April to November or just visit Ilam to taste tea, go mountain tours, or watch birds.
