Gateway to Mount Everest
A point of excursion in the Everest and other Himalayan peaks of this zone is the NamcheBazaar(3,500 m). It has become a small and colorful marketplace with everything you need during your journey, from Tibetan artifacts and walking and trekking equipment. Detailed information on the various climbs of the region, memorabilia from various mountain excursions, and the lifestyle and culture of the Sherpa people are available at the visitors center at the park headquarters. These are the things to discover in Namche Bazaar: 1) Kancha Sherpa Visit: From the Everest Expedition 1953, Kancha Sherpa is the last remaining Sherpa climbing. On Island Picnic, in Makalu, and on many Everest expeditions, Kancha was on many adventures. The Nirvana Lodge in Namche Bazaar allows you to visit Kancha and pay 500 rupees for your Kanchastorytime. One of our guides joins the Kancha team as a translator! 2) Shangbouche Hill Visit: At 3,900/12,795 feet is Shangbouche Hill. The best views of the region are undoubtedly Shangbouche Hill.
