The Shrines at Richeshwar Mahadev Temple devotes the Hindu god of destruction, Shiva. In Shivalinga temples one of the regular practices is to whisper the prayers and wishes to the Nandi bull, who preserves the kingdom of Lord Shiva.
People believe that when Lord Shiva took his leap, lamented and mourned on his death-wife Goddess Sati, and carried her corpse all across the world, he got tired and opted to rest where the temple stands at present.
Lord Shiva strikes on the rock of the highlands here, to extinguish his thirst, with his untouched waters streaming forth from the ground. This tradition is to thank the countless little jharnas or stripes of water that come down the rocks of mountains.
Although you feel at the end of the earth, it’s rather easy to get to Daman. It is located approximately 77 kilometers from the city center, midway to Hetaudá from Kathmandu along the Tribhuvan Highway.
